English Will Tesla 3 have an augmented reality HUD?
Did you hear about Tesla Motors and their electric vehicle? The pre-orders on their Tesla 3 reached high results just few days ago, arriving to the first pages of online and offline magazines and newspapers.
Surely this happened because of the features of the vehicle, that promise to help drivers saving money and (everyone hopes, at least) to release less smog thanks to the electricity system instead of the fuel one; Tesla project, anyhow, doesn’t end here: the prototype has also automatic driving and, following some leaks, soon will also feature a HUD.
Tha last news, in fact, are about a pretty original hiring: Tesla welcomed in their team as new Software Engineer Milan Kovac, augmented reality expert coming from Skully, another brand part of the avant-garde technologies field (Skully is one of the augmented reality driving helmets presented at CES 2016). Kovac’s entrance in the Tesla team made everyone guess a possible development of an augmented reality HUD for their new car.
HUD displays are the last trends in the driving world: literally, HUD means heads-up display, a display letting the driver have all the information needed while driving right in front of his eyes, without being forced to take off the eyes from the street. During last year this kind of devices, using augmented reality features, saw an increase: from the information superimposed to the car’s front shield to those inside helmets (for motorbikes or even ski).
In the case of Tesla 3 there seem to be no doubts: the prototype presented to the public, in fact, did not show a traditional instrument panel, but an original one resembling a tablet. Will this be Tesla’s next step to the definitive model?
Reading a tweet that Elon Musk, the company’s CEO, published before the prototype presentation seems it could be, since it says: “Tomorrow is Part 1 of the Model 3 unveil. Part 2, which takes things to another level, will be closer to production.“

La Tesla 3 avrà anche un HUD a realtà aumentata?
Avete sentito parlare di Tesla Motors e della sua auto a energia elettrica? I preordini della sua Tesla 3 sono volati alle stelle solo pochi giorni fa, raggiungendo le copertine dei magazine online e non solo.
Di sicuro questo è dovuto alla particolarità del mezzo, che promette di far risparmiare e (si spera) di inquinare meno grazie al funzionamento a elettricità invece che a carburante; il progetto Tesla, tuttavia, non si ferma qui: il prototipo, infatti, prevede anche una funzionalità di pilota automatico e, secondo le ultime indiscrezioni, presto potrebbe avere anche un pannello HUD.
Notizie dell’ultim’ora, infatti, riportano un’assunzione alquanto particolare: Tesla ha accolto nel suo team nel ruolo di Software Engineer Milan Kovac, esperto di realtà aumentata proveniente da Skully, un’altra firma che fa capo al settore delle tecnologie di avanguardia (si tratta di uno dei caschi da moto a realtà aumentata presentati al CES 2016). L’ingresso di Kovac all’interno del team Tesla ha fatto immediatamente pensare al possibile sviluppo di un pannello di controllo HUD a realtà aumentata per il suo nuovo modello di veicolo.
I display HUD sono l’ultimo trend nel mondo della guida: letteralmente HUD significa heads-up display, cioè schermo che permette di avere tutte le informazioni necessarie alla guida di fronte ai propri occhi, senza dover abbassare lo sguardo. Nell’ultimo anno questa tipologia di dispositivi, che sfruttano le potenzialità della realtà aumentata, ha visto un’impennata: dalle informazioni superimposte al vetro anteriore dell’auto a quelle all’interno di caschi da moto (ma anche da sci).
Nel caso della Tesla 3 sembrerebbero esserci pochi dubbi: il prototipo in visione al pubblico, infatti, non presentava un pannello comandi tipico di un’automobile, ma un particolare schermo che ricordava un tablet. Che questo sia il prossimo passo di Tesla verso il modello definitivo?
Leggendo il tweet di Elon Musk, CEO della compagnia, pubblicato prima della presentazione del prototipo verrebbe da pensare di sì, dato che recita: “Domani è la prima parte della presentazione di Model 3. La seconda parte, che porta le cose a un altro livello, sarà più vicina alla produzione“.
